Electrum is an easy-to-use multi-platform cryptocurrency wallet. The wallet was launched in 2011 as non-commercial project. For now, the wallet is being maintained by developers from all over the world on the voluntary basis. Electrum is an open-source service. It supports multi-platforms and can be launched on mobile devices, desktop or with command line interface. Its servers are decentralized, so users are unlikely to face downtime, as they will be redirected to another server in case of down. Verification is carried out via SPV. Electrum features cold storage (private keys are kept offline). Security measures also include multi-signature, secret seed (phrase to restore access to funds) as well as local storage of private keys (keys are encrypted and kept on user’s computer).
