Zcash community discovers fake ZecWallet
Members of the Zcash (ZEC) community have discovered a suspicious and potentially malicious counterfeit version of Zcash Foundation's native ZecWallet. Zcash developer Electric Coin Company asked all the Zecwallet users to be careful while downloading the wallet and only do it from the official website. Earlier, A bug was found in all Zcash implementations.
"PSA to all Zcash users! There is a fake version of ZecWallet that likely contains malware (size and checksum is different) double check you are downloading from official ZecWallet repo on GitHub" - tweeted Zcash developer Electric Coin Company.
It is worth noting that, in general, things are not going well with ZEC. In particular, the Electric Coin Company (ECC), which is developing the Zcash cryptocurrency, received losses in the first quarter of 2019. In addition, a bug was found in all Zcash implementations and most of its forks that could leak metadata containing the full nodes’ with shielded addresses IPs.
However, this does not prevent the project from developing. Over the next six months, the Zcash community will develop a special version of ZEC in the form of a token that can be used on the Ethereum blockchain.
