WORLD BANK: ECONOMIC GROWTH WILL SLOW DOWN

Posted 12 January, 2022

The growth rate of the world economy after last year's recovery will slow down - from 5.5% in 2021 to 4.1% in 2022 and 3.2% in 2023. Such prospects are mentioned in the January report of the World Bank.

Ayhan Kose, Analyst, World Bank: “COVID-19 is still with us. And we are currently experiencing a wave of the omicron strain. Debt is high, inflation is accelerating. We also have climate problems. with very limited opportunities for developing countries with their emerging markets, these risks increase the likelihood of a decline in economic activity. "

According to experts, in order for more and more states to embark on the path of beneficial economic growth, concerted efforts of the entire international community and a wide range of measures in the policies of each country are needed.

As for the zone with the single European currency... The forecast for GDP growth in the eurozone economy has been reduced from 4.4% to 4.2% after the expected growth of 5.2% in 2021.

The authors of the report point to "the possibility of new outbreaks of COVID-19, especially in countries with low vaccination rates."
