The US dollar maintained grounds during the Asian trading on Wednesday. At the same time, it was recorded some strengthening against the Japanese yen. The market is waiting for the US-China talks.
According to the market data, the euro-to-US dollar exchange rate was at $1.0958 which is practically unchanged from the previous session.
The greenback improved in the pair with the Japanese currency with the rate reaching 107.17, compared to 107.09 a day before.
The British currency decreased vs the US dollar. The exchange rate was at 1.2205. the weakening is related to a lack of progress in the Brexit.
For reference, the Chairman of the European Parliament David Sassoli stated that the UK Prime Minister Borish Johnson failed to provide any suggestions regarding further development of the Brexit during the recent meeting in London.
Notably, he added that the last-year document agreed by London could get support from the European Parliament.
However, the market participants await the start of trade talks between Washington and Beijing since most of them fear that the negotiations can be fruitless due to increased tensions.
