The head of cryptocurrency initiative launched by Facebook stated that they will not give up plans to roll out payment service despite al the challenges they are facing.

Bertrand Perez, director-general of Libra Association, told French media that the world would see the planned stable coin in H2 2020.

He added that the Association did not plan to issue new money supply via Libra. It was mentioned that Libra is not going to become another major asset management company like BlackRock, so concerns about the negative impact on fiats of the central banks from the coin seem to be groundless.

Besides, the representative of the Libra Association confirmed that the company would use the major global currencies to back Libra. Moreover, he is sure that they will manage to get all regulatory approvals after offsetting all doubts expressed by the authorities.

Earlier, Facebook commented on a possible list of currencies that potentially can be used to back the Libra. The list included USD, EUR, JPY, GBP and SGD.
