With the upcoming launch of the main EOS network, the management of the Block.one project stated that all holders of ERC-20 EOS tokens would have to pass registration of Ethereum-addresses by June 2. This move is said to secure smooth conversion of the old tokes into new ones after the main network comes on stream.
The company has reportedly provided all requierd instructions on the website of the project in the section – EOS Toke Distribution.
"EOS Token (ERC-20) holders are reminded to check the token distribution section of the EOSIO website for details on how complete the important process to register their Ethereum addresses prior to June 2, 2018, at 21:59:59 UTC. Registration allows addresses and associated balances to be identified after the release of EOSIO v1.0," the statement reads.
The conversion will be supported by such leading platforms as Bitfinex, Bithumb, Binance, Kucoin and Kraken. The tokens will be converted without the need for users' presence.
At the same time, the organizer of EOS Atlanta some time ago noted that token holders could face certain risks coming from the exchange platforms. He said that EOS migration to its own blockchain could be more complicated than expected, considering possible network branching. As a result, this can summon several EOS chains at once, and the trading platforms, being mostly centralized, can support different chains depending on the political targets. In this context, he is sure that it is quite risky to keep EOS tokens on the exchanges and unregistered wallets.
