Bitcoin price has posted some gains in the second half of the week and maintained positions above the $8,000 line.

Today, the leading coin changed hands on the Bitfinex at $8,217.40; Ethereum on this platform moved up to $476.6. Ripple coin gained 1.23% reaching $0.46157. At the same time, Litecoin price slightly decreased to $86.780.

Bitcoin got support from the reports that the US Securities and Exchange Commission may greenlight bitcoin-related ETF. As a result, retail investors will be able to buy/sell bitcoins via the financial instrument.

The crypto market capitalization generally remained unchanged and amounted to some $300 billion ($304 billion yesterday).

“Emerging financial technologies are taking us into a new chapter of economic history. They are impacting trading, markets, and the entire financial landscape with far-ranging implications for the capital formation and risk transfer,” CFTC chairman Chris Giancarlo said on Wednesday.

He also added that the world is changing under these technologies, and in this context, they naturally promote a similar transformation in the US financial markets.
