Coinbase about to remove ZCash from listing in UK

Posted 12 August, 2019

The Coinbase cryptocurrency exchange sent a notification to its British users that from August 26, 2019, the platform will cease operations related to the trading of Zcash cryptocurrency (ZEC).

Customers of the Coinbase trading platform living in the UK can either send their Zcash stocks to other exchanges or convert it to other cryptocurrencies. All remaining Zcash tokens will be automatically converted to pounds sterling after August 26.

This decision came soon after HM Revenue & Customs, a UK tax authority, asked the exchange to provide user transaction data given the privacy policy of this coin.

However, the parent company ZCash Electric Coin Company issued a statement stating that this move covers only the Coinbase exchange. This means that UK residents still can trade ZEC at CEX.IO. In addition, the company emphasizes that ZCash is fully compliant with UK standards.
